Myanmar 7D/6N - Mergui Archipelago (22 dives)

 

Day 0 (Day before departure)

- Check-in at the dive center on the eve of depature, no later than 18:00 hrs. Rental equipment sizing and payment of the Visa and Royalty fees for Myanmar (currently US$230), collect the 2 passport photos per person (name on the back of each photo), collecting the passports including the completed and signed departure cards for Thai immigration and payment for the optional extras.  Payments must be made in cash and Thai currency.

 

Day 1 (departure day)

- Pick up from your hotel in the Khao Lak area between 09:16 hrs and 09:30 hrs.  Transfer to Ranong, Thailand at 10:00 hrs to meet up with MV Bavaria.  Departure time from the pier in Ranong is between 14:30 and 15:00.

 

Day 2 (4 Dives)

- 2 Morning dives at High Rock and Rocky 1.  Rays are often found here, as well as a myriad of pipefish, frogfish and seahorses, nudibranchs, and macro reef life.

- 2 Afternoon dives at one of the best sites in the archepelago, "Shark Cave."   Around the rocks you have a very good chance to see manta rays, reef sharks, and a diverse range of smaller fishes such as seahorses, frogfish and ghost pipe fish.

 

Day 3 (4 Dives)

- 4 Dives at the what is commonly known as the most spectacular dive site in the region.  Black Rock is located far away from the coast in the open sea and is a known for it's stellar visibility.  The coral reefs at Black Rock are home to a massively diverse variety of macro life. Ghost pipefish and frogfish can be found here regularly. Rays are frequent visitors as well.  A dive stie that you will likely never forget.

 

Day 4 (4 Dives)

- 3 Dives aorund North Twin Island

- 1 Dive at South Twin. 

These islands are far from the mainland and are known for having great visibility.  Sea fans and other gorgonian species are just some of the highlights of these remote islands.

 

Day 5 (4 Dives)

- 4 Dives at The Arch, Boulder Rock and McLeod Island. Soft corals blanket the reefs at these sites, offering refuge to a wealth of macro creatures, including nudibranchs.  Ghost pipefish and whale sharks can be foun at Boulder Rock. McLeod Island is an excellent place for a night dive or just to relax on one of it's beautiful beaches.

 

Day 6 (4 Dives)

- 2 Dives at Forest Pinnacle, which is covered in sea fans and other gorgonian species.  Octopuss and Harlequin shrimp can be found amongst the corals and due to its secluded location in the open sea, there is also a good chance of seeing big pelagic fish as well. but also octopus, 

- 2 Dives at Western Rocky, one of the most spectacular dive sites in the southern part of the archipelago. The highlight here is the huge cave tunnel at a depth of 20 meters which continues through the entire rock. This is easy cave to dive, even for beginners.  Entry and ext points can be seen at all areas inside the cave.  Guitar sharks, frogfish, seahorses and many lobster can be found inside the cave.

 

Day 7 (2 Dives)

- Dive 1 is at Shark Point and dive 2 is at Secret Lagoon. Both sites  have a large diversity colorful corals and small caverns and caves. Black tip reef sharks, tuna and perch schools, stingrays and turtles are just some of the inhabitants around the islands.

- After the last dive, MV Bavaria sets her course to return to Kawthaung in Myanmar for immigration departure formalities.  

- MV Bavaria then returns to Ranong, Thailand, arriving around 15:30 hrs. Transfer to Khao Lak by minibus, arrival in Khao Lak between 19:00 and 19:30 hrs

SPECIAL CONDITIONS for MYANMAR TRIPS

 

1) Liveaboard trips to Myanmar are not suitable for beginners and snorkelers. We recommend this trip to divers who already have some experience with currents and depths. In addition, we point out that the last dive should not be more than 1 year ago. We may offer you a short refresher course.

 

2) In order to comply with the entry requirements for Myanmar we require a scanned copy of the passport as pdf-file no later than 14 days before the start of the trip.

 

3) The passport including the completed and signed Departure Card of the Thai Immigration, Visa & Royalty Fees of currently 230 USD in cash and two passport photos per person must be brought to Loma Diving Adventure on the day before the trip for check-in.

 

4) US dollar pre-1996 and US $ 100 new series serial numbers beginning with CB will not be accepted. The same applies to worn, damaged, kinked or heavily soiled bills. Only new and undamaged currency notes are accepted by the authorities of Myanmar.

 

5) Funky Monkey Dive and Tour and Loma Diving Adventure can not be held responsible if it is not possible to enter Myanmar due to short-term changes to the entry requirements and the timetable must be changed accordingly.
